Our Design Philosophy

We believe that successful architecture grows from open dialogue with our clients. This produces a deeper understanding of not only who they are and what their vision for their project is, but also how that vision can be fulfilled and expanded upon. The result is a structure that not only does its job exceedingly well but is also beautiful and appropriate to the setting in which it resides.
01

Gaining Understanding

Building Relationships with Our Clients: We begin by building strong relationships with our clients. We want to know not just what you want to build, but why. Often, clients don’t know exactly what they want—that’s why they seek out design professionals. By getting to know you better, we can help inform you of what’s possible and guide you in the right direction. Our goal is to uncover your project’s core purpose.
Site Analysis: We evaluate your site’s potential by considering everything from topography and natural features to solar orientation and local zoning requirements. This thorough analysis allows us to inform you of your property’s true potential for development.
Feasibility Study: Our team has decades of experience working with various City, County, State, and local HOA ordinances and requirements. We pride ourselves on our ability to efficiently navigate these entities and their rules, enabling us to guide you on what is allowable for your project.

02

Capturing Vision

Collaborative Discovery: Through open dialogue, we learn about your aesthetic preferences, functional requirements, and long-term goals. This is your project—we’re here to help bring your vision to life.
Virtual Visualization: Using our advanced 3D modeling technology, we enable you to visualize a variety of design possibilities.
Sustainable Integration: We identify opportunities to integrate energy-efficient solutions and sustainable practices that align with your vision while honoring Montana’s natural environment.

03

Realizing Dreams

Comprehensive Design Development: Our integrated team develops detailed plans where every element works in harmony.
Coordination with Partners: Just as we focus on building strong relationships with our clients, we also prioritize maintaining strong connections with local contractors and engineering teams, ensuring seamless communication throughout the project.
Project Oversight: We remain actively involved throughout construction, so that your project is executed according to plan while maintaining our high standards for quality and sustainability.

Our Process
An amazing design means nothing if it can’t be effectively communicated to the owner, the builder, and the community at large. We pride ourselves on our ability to communicate your design to all three.
Our Process

Your Vision, Understood and Executed

Project Programming: We create a comprehensive list of Wants and Needs for the project. Together, we’ll address key details such as desired size and estimated budget. Thoughtful discussions ensure we fully understand how to best help you achieve your design goals.
Conceptual Design: After finalizing the program, we create conceptual design drawings—such as site plans, sketches, and early 3D models—to help you visualize the project’s direction. This phase involves collaborative feedback to refine and shape your vision. Our goal is to produce clear, easy-to-understand drawings that effectively communicate the design to you.
Design Development: This phase focuses on refining the design further, building on the initial concepts. Key details such as site planning, materiality, and major building systems are clarified and finalized. Through this process, the design becomes more defined and ready for the next stages of development.
Construction Documents: After the owner approves the final concept design, we develop detailed construction documents. Necessary consultants, such as engineers, interior designers, and landscape architects, will be brought on as needed, and their work will be seamlessly coordinated with ours. These finalized documents will meet the requirements for permitting, bidding, and construction, ensuring a smooth transition to the next phase.
Bidding/Value Engineering: If needed, Montana Creative can assist in selecting a general contractor for the project. We work closely with the client and contractor throughout the bidding process, ensuring a smooth and transparent experience. Should value-engineering measures be required to align the project with budgetary goals, we will collaborate to implement them effectively, helping move the project toward construction.
Construction Administration: Montana Creative will support the contractor by addressing design-related questions, reviewing material submittals and shop drawings, and responding to requests for information. We can also conduct site visits to assess and approve project progress and construction quality. Additionally, we are available for final walkthroughs and punch lists to ensure the home is completed to the highest standards.
